I’m not talking about free advice I’m about to give you (though I’m sure there will be some). I’m talking about the free advice that’s out there. You know…on the Web.
Ignore it!
I Googled, “how to write a personal ad” and of course came up with many results (just shy of 21,000,000, actually!). A few down the list, there is a wiki entry on writing personal ads. No, I’m not going to link to it for you. First, Google is your friend. Second, their advice sucks.
Here’s a line from their “advice”…
Write your personal ad around conversation starters. E.g., writing that you’re new in town prompts a variety of questions, such as “Where did you move from?”
Yyyyyyyyeah. ‘Cuz writing that you’re new in town will have women beating down your door wanting to know where you’re from. Get real, people! There’s nothing interesting about being “new to town.” You know what it says? It says that you’re lonely, you probably watch a lot of TV, you’re going to instantly cling to whomever shows you the least bit of attention, and it says that you have nothing better to say about yourself.
“I’m new to town.” Please.
My advice for the day. Stay away from free advice. If it was worth something, they’d sell it. (Unless they’re socialist online daters…in which case you REALLY don’t want their advice.)d
Though between you and me, hippy chicks put out pretty good!
